ABOUT THERAPY

I'm trained in psychodynamic psychotherapy. This is a talking therapy approved by the NHS which will help you to access and think about patterns of behaviour in your life and gain better understanding of underlying reasons and motivations. Sometimes we get stuck in unproductive or actively harmful or self-limiting patterns because they are familiar and comfortable. Psychodynamic therapy allows exploration of our capacity to change.

Sessions are not tightly structured, giving you space to bring whatever is on your mind within a 50-minute frame. I will listen carefully, ask clarifying questions, invite your associations, and offer observations or links between experiences, thoughts and feelings you share. There are no set "homework" tasks; the time is yours, and we think together about what's difficult and what might change.

Your first session is an assessment to help us decide whether working together feels right. We will discuss:

• What you're currently struggling with and what you hope to change

• Any previous therapy

• Your family background and significant relationships

• Risk and safeguarding, including alcohol or drug use, eating difficulties, self-harm, suicidal thoughts or attempts.

Primary areas of help:

Depression and low mood

• Anxiety and panic

• Relationship and family difficulties

• Bereavement and complicated grief

• Work-related stress and burnout

• Trauma and abuse

• Living with long-term health conditions

• Addictions and anger
